We just spent a fantastic summer exploring our own backyard, our home province of Nova Scotia (if you’re unfamiliar, it’s on the very east coast of Canada). A lot of that time was spent in the northern region of Nova Scotia, an island called Cape Breton.

As frequent travellers, we inevitably end up using Airbnb a lot. Although staying in a hotel can be a lot of fun, there are definitely some distinct advantages to picking an Airbnb. You’ll potentially have access to a kitchen which means you can cook for yourself, you’ll likely have more space than a hotel, you get to essentially find out what it’s like to live like a local, all while plausibly saving a fair bit of money (compared to a hotel)!

While visiting Puerto Rico we spend the majority of time in and around the main city of San Juan, on the north side of the island. We were therefore really excited to have the opportunity to visit a totally different part of Puerto Rico.

While visiting Puerto Rico, spending time in San Juan is a complete necessity. However, It’s also important to escape the city and see more of the island - and Dorada is a great starting point!

We recently got to spend a few exploring a true gem in the US, the Florida Keys. We’d had it on our list for a very long time and had visited Miami multiple times, but despite it being so close, we never seemed to be able to make it down there! We spent five days and four nights discovering this incredible gem and have put together an itinerary for you of where to stay, what to eat and what to do while visiting the Florida Keys!

Deciding how to spend your time in Singapore can be a challenge. Although full of history and culture, Singapore is also a world class city that at times feels like stepping into the future, and therefore the abundance of things to do can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to planning.

Situated less than two hours from Cancun, Isla Holbox is a quiet, hidden gem of Mexico. Isla Holbox is specifically known for its stunning beaches where you can practically walk on the water because of its sandbars that stretch for miles. In the late summer and early fall, whale sharks migrate to nearby waters and many tours are offered.

Looking for where to stay in Curacao? Trying to find accomodation in any place can always be a little bit overwhelming. Especially on a large island with various regions to decide from. We stayed at quite a few hotels while on the island and have put together a list of places to stay in Curacao for any budget and style.

When you are on a long trip that includes many stops- you frequently don’t have time to do much research before arriving at the next destination. As we emerge off a train, it’s often the first time we’ve had the chance to look up the location of our hotel and how to get there. It is always a welcome surprise when the hotel happens to be within walking distance from the train station.

In the past couple of years, since we started Delightful Travellers, we’ve had some amazing opportunities to stay at quite a few unbelievable places. However, staying at Kanonicza 22 in Kraków, Poland was definitely one of the most luxurious.

We recently travelled to Mexico with Sunwing Vacations to visit the beautiful Paradisus Playa Del Carmen. The Paradisus Playa Del Carmen is a relatively large resort, but it’s also easily walkable. It’s divided into two sections, Esmeralda, which is the family side- and La Perla, the adults only side- which is where we stayed. When you stay at La Perla you also get access to all the Esmeralda amenities.

If you’re looking to stay in Sanya, China you might initially find yourself a bit overwhelmed with all the myriad of options and areas to stay in. Sanya is a relatively large region in the very south of Hainan province in China. It’s relatively close to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia and therefore shares their moderate, warm climate. 

Normally while travelling, especially on longer trips- we try to be economical in our hotel choices. I often shop around various sites and try to find the best hotel for the best price. I’ll also frequently use the Priceline/Hotwire option of booking a cheaper rate without knowing where we’ll end up. That being said, once in awhile we like to splurge and really treat ourselves.
