On this trip, we set out to explore the city in one day. We hit up Bellwoods Park, Ossington Avenue, the Distillery District and even the Toronto Aquarium. We've been to Toronto before, but this time it swept us off of our feet. We went to some amazing restaurants and bars as well. The food in Toronto was extraordinary.

In this blog, we will be discussing the costs of living in Halifax. We will be going through all the important expenses. The blog will cover the cost of housing, rentals and condos. Then, we will cover the cost of local restaurants as well as transportation in the city.

We start things off in the historic Old Montreal. We walked around and explored the old cobblestone streets, the main square (Place Jacques-Cartier) all while being surround by so many beautiful, historic buildings. We also headed down to the Old Port of Montreal which seems to be somewhat newly developed with a Ferris wheel, lots of water activities and vendors. We stopped at one food truck called Felix and Norton for a cookie.

On this trip, from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to Portland, Maine we decided to take The CAT Ferry (UPDATE: the ferry now goes between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor, Maine). If you are thinking of bringing your family to Portland there is no better choice than The CAT ferry.

Our home base is Halifax and we therefore spend a significant amount of time there, especially during the pandemic and lockdown when all the restaurants and shops were closed. However, once things reopened we decided it’s time for a Halifax waterfront street food tour. Summer is the perfect time to explore Halifax and the waterfront is a must visit! We are about to try some delicious Halifax street food.

So, you’re visiting Nova Scotia! You’re going to hear so many suggestions to spend time in Halifax, visit the Annapolis Valley, head to the South Shore or go to Cape Breton (you can’t go wrong with any of those suggestions!). However, we’ve got a different suggestion for you.

We just spent a fantastic summer exploring our own backyard, our home province of Nova Scotia (if you’re unfamiliar, it’s on the very east coast of Canada). A lot of that time was spent in the northern region of Nova Scotia, an island called Cape Breton.

As we write this we’ve just wrapped up the most incredible four days visiting Indigenous Tourism locations throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Like most people from the Maritime Provinces we frequently drove through and past First Nations communities, yet we were both unaware of the amazing cultural experiences we were missing out on.

We recently made our way from our hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia (that's in Canada for those of you not from these parts) to Portland, Maine, via The CAT Ferry. Before departing, we decided to stay for a couple of nights in Yarmouth and Acadian Shores to see what was on offer. What we discovered, definitely surprised us, and we really hope you’ll take the opportunity to check it out for yourselves.

We recently had the opportunity to spend a fun and sun filled weekend in one of our favourite provinces, Prince Edward Island, thanks to Tourism PEI, Northumberland Ferries and the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. There really is no place like PEI in the summertime, it’s all about long, sunny days, endless blue skies, and frollicking in the warm waves.
